Last updated: September 2026 – steps checked against the current Sarathi Parivahan portal for Uttar Pradesh.
If you live in Uttar Pradesh, you can apply for a learner’s licence, a permanent driving licence, renewal and most other licence services online through Parivahan Sewa, the national transport portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. UP’s Transport Department (Parivahan Vibhag) uses the national Sarathi system for licences and Vahan for vehicles, so the process is the same as in most other states; you just select Uttar Pradesh as your state.
Note: UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) runs the state’s buses. It does not issue driving licences. Licences are handled by the UP Transport Department through its RTOs and ARTOs.
